Lip Blush

Pre-Pare

Permanent Lip Blush or Darker Lip Neutralization- Remember:

  1. Exfoliate nightly for 1 week minimum. I use a damp toothbrush.

  2. Hydrate 5 times per day with a slippery, emollient lip balm - Vaseline, Aquaphor etc. Nothing hard or waxy like Carmex or Chapstick.

  3. If you have a history of cold sores, this Lip Blush Tattoo process will cause one or more to pop up. You must be taking your anti-viral RX for at least 4 days before, the day of, and 3 days after each of your Lip Blush or Lip Neutralization appointment. If you have no history of Cold Sores, the virus can still pop up a sore because it lies dormant in your system. 67% of the human population has the Herpes Simplex I and a lot of folks don’t know they have it. Lip Blush cannot GIVE you HSV-1 but it can cause enough stress on your system to cause the dormant virus to awaken. You can always discuss prophylactic treatment with your health care provider if you so choose.

  4. Do not use strong waterproof liquid Matte lipsticks or lip stains until 6 weeks after your final appointment. Avoid using them for 2 weeks before any annual touchups as well.

  5. You must change your disposable mask 3 times a day minimum for the first 5-7 days. You should consider these masks as wound dressing and only use a fresh, new, disposable mask each time. Do not use a washable reusable mask until day 7, minimum. Have these available before your appointment.

Healing

Permanent Lip Blush or Darker Lip Neutralization Healing

  1. *Your lips will lightly weep fluid for the first 24-48 hours after your appointment. Do not allow this fluid to dry down. It must be gently blotted away with cold water on damp cotton pads. Apply lip ointment generously after each time you blot.

  2. *Your lips will most likely remain noticeably swollen for 2-3 days after your appointment. This swelling is temporary. Lips with filler will have even more pronounced temporary swelling.

  3. *Lip Neutralization of naturally darker lips will go through a cycle of temporarily looking much darker for the first 4-8 weeks. This is a normal part of healing. Please allow the full 8-10 weeks to heal. Lip Neutralization may take 3-4 sessions which are 8-10 weeks apart before satisfactory results are achieved. You must be patient during this process. The naturally occurring melanin doesn’t disappear or leave, so after 12-18 months you may begin to see your natural lip color coming through as the tattoo fades. You may consider an annual touchup appointment at this time. Your healing process will be the same as the first time, however it will usually only need 1 or 2 touchup appointments.

  4. *You must MUST change your mask 3 times a day minimum for the first 5-7 days. You should consider these masks as wound dressing and only use a fresh, new, disposable mask each time. Do NOT use a washable reusable mask until day 7, minimum. If there is still any flaking, please use the disposable masks. The most amount of time without a mask is preferable if possible (but still please be thoughtful of others and do still wear a mask as needed in public.)

  5. *If you have a history of cold sores, this process will absolutely cause one or more to pop up. You must be taking your anti-viral RX for at least 3 days before and at least 3 days after your Lip Blush or Lip Neutralization appointment.

  6. *If you run out of the provided lip balm, Aquaphor is an excellent stand-in. Continue to keep your lips moisturized and hydrated between each appointment.

  7. *Do not exfoliate or scrub your lips until week 4.

  8. *Do not use strong waterproof liquid Matte lipsticks or lip stains until 6 weeks after your final appointment. Avoid using them for 2 weeks before any annual touchups as well.
